Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Thanks to Gioia Benedetti's careful philological work, a short, narrative and hitherto unknown text brings back the voice of one of the most original and brilliant Italian critics of the 20th century. After the trip to Brazil in his youth, in his single finished novel set in Rio de Janeiro in the Fifties, Notti di Copacabana, Ruggero Jacobbi conveyed not only the climate and atmosphere of a distant and in some ways mythical world such as Brazil, but also a significant track of the readings, meetings and influences of the great texts of Portuguese and South American literature, at the time mostly unknown in Italy. Jacobbi had an extraordinary talent at catching and interpreting the changes in the narrative code, and in this book, the author offers an incredibly intriguing experimental story with alternating voices and characters and intertwining events, contributing to the creation of a suspenseful atmosphere.

Abstract

This survey concerns the lexicographic presence of Giovanni Boccaccio's Decameron in the Vocabolario of the Accademici della Crusca (from the first to the fourth edition). Boccaccio is the author that counts 15.600 occurrences (considering also his others literary works) already in the first edition. This is a significant situation about Decameron, because we know that a lot of its passages went through modifications and censorship: all of these interventions on Boccaccio's text would have had some influence on the quotations into the Vocabolario. Starting from the declarations of the Accademici, the study wants to investigate about the employment of Decameron's sources during the works for the Vocabolario, involving editions, manuscripts and Accademici's autograph papers.

Abstract

This paper examines the reception of Dante among Serbs in the period between 1991 to 2021. It focuses on the complex state of Serbian Danteology in the crucial historical period in which Yugoslavia was beginning to crumble and Serbia was subjected to sanctions and isolated from the world, and which also includes the NATO bombings. The examination concludes in 2021, which coincides with the 700th anniversary of Dante's death. The paper focuses primarily on translations of Dante's works (mostly the Divine Comedy) by two Serbian translators, Dragan Mraović and later Kolja Mićević, but also on republished translations such as those by Dragiša Stanojević and Mihovil Kombol. The Serbian studies and theatrical performances of Dante's work are also considered.

Abstract

The text of the commentary to the Georgics of Benvenuto da Imola allows to illuminate the intertextual relationships between Benvenuto da Imola and Giovanni Boccaccio. Through a series of examples that highlight clear dependence on the Genealogia Deorum Gentilium, the De montibus and the Zibaldone membranaceo, the aim is to show Benvenuto's intellectual and cultural debt to the preceptor Boccaccio, thus configuring the Imolese as a personally known disciple and one of the first readers of Boccaccio's Latin erudite works.

Abstract

In the early 19th-century, Milan was the most active Italian city in the publishing of books. There, collectors, librarians, scholars of ancient literature and young men of letters were protagonists in an intense activity of publishing classical texts. New editions of Divina Commedia, Petrarch's Rime, Boccaccio's Decameron, Ariosto's Orlando Furioso, Tasso's Gerusalemme Liberata and of many works by writers of the 18th century were published in Milan, in particular by Società Tipografica de' Classici Italiani (Italian Classical Writers' Printing Society). In a period rich in cultural and linguistic debates, even discussions on the procedures for publishing texts took on a new importance. By analysing the statements of the editors, investigating their textual choices, following their polemics, Alberto Cadioli, one of the well-known Italian textual bibliography scholars for the modern texts, underlines the importance of the «sana critica», the «sound criticism» - i.e. the philological practice, according to the language of that time - with which classical texts were published in Milan in the first decades of the 19th century. This book, that offers unknown data and a large documentation, reveals theoretical unexpectedly Modern observations and methodological indications, hidden in pages forgotten for many years.

Abstract

As scattered pieces of a composite artistic path to be reassembled, the personal notes, writing tests, private letters and reviews kept by Giuseppe Dessí over the years allow Nicola Turi, who had already been following the author's footsteps for some time, to reconstruct the sources of inspiration, the composition and revision processes, as well as the main stages of the critical reception of a work crossing the best part of the 20th century in Italy with an elegant gait which constantly brings it in on the same level as the great European models: a philosophical background which is always up to date, and the very fine sensitivity of someone who knows how to grasp the imperceptible movements of the human soul and the great changes of history at the same time. This volume is the result of a long archival work and, also by virtue of the bibliography (by and on the author) placed in the appendix, it aims at functioning as a journey through Dessí's texts and, at the same time, at offering the readers the necessary hermeneutical support to understand his works.

Abstract

For the first time, this book parallels the works of Góngora and Tirso, analyzing their different involvement in the expressive modalities of the Baroque that both interpret and value in a hyperbolic way. With efficiency and originality, the renowned hispanist Laura Dolfi studies the style of Soledades, Panegírico, and Cigarrales, and the artifices of fiction that, in Las firmezas de Isabela and La fingida Arcadia, guide the desenlace, underlining the position of its author with respect to the literary precepts of the time (rejection or acceptance of new art and culteranismo). In addition, Góngora's role as a playwright is valued, and his plays are studied from less accustomed points of view: the dramatic characteristics, the importance of the rhythm that his verses scanned, the diffusion and the possible corruption of the text.

Abstract

The volume reconstructs the professional biography of the notary Antonio di Bartolasio da Borgonuovo di Trento between the end of the 14th and the first decades of the 15th century. Both his social rise, with his insertion into the Trentino ruling class at the beginning of the fifteenth century and the advantageous marriages of his daughters with members of the powerful Calepini family, and the professional rise that will lead him to rogare for the most important institutions of the city, are retraced. from the Episcopate to the Municipality of Trento, as well as being the trusted notary of the Cathedral Chapter for over forty years. Given the quality and quantity of the documentation produced by him, his biography and his modus operandi constitute a significant case study to trace a picture of the late medieval Trentino notary.
